Wyckoff House Museum Celebrates Haitian Spirituality With Festival Minokan This Weekend
The event includes a ceremony overseen by Haitian songstress and Vodou priestess Sirene Dantor.
Join in a celebration of Hatian culture and Vodou this weekend with the sixth annual Festival Minokan at Brooklyn’s oldest farmhouse. The celebration at Wyckoff House Museum will include a ceremony overseen by Haitian songstress and Vodou priestess Sirene Dantor as well as music, dance, and workshops.
The festivities take place on Saturday, July 13 beginning at 4 p.m. on the museum grounds at 5816 Clarendon Road in East Flatbush. Free workshops and hands-on activities will focus on Haitian traditions and spirits and there will also be snacks, drinks, and crafts available for purchase. The outdoor event will conclude with performers and spiritual leaders participating in a ceremony entitled “Ann Tounnen Nan Matris” (Return to the Womb) beginning at 6 p.m.
