What does one do with an old fridge?

Need to get my fridge that works fine but is kind of beat up inside – do I need to call the city for pick up?

You can also post it on Brooklynfreecycle. It’s a longshot, but you never know. A friend posted several used but usable major appliances last year, and someone came and hauled them away for a newly purchased cabin upstate.

I believe the door must be removed and you need to phone 311 to get a tag of some sort because of the freon it contains – and then you put it out on the day when sanitation normally picks up large items. In summary: phone 311 !
